No Sugar, No Soda, What the Heck For?

As many of you have read. In the last couple of months I have given up my lifelines. My rewards, my mommy bonus, my you didn't kill them today so have a treat, my you married a big meanney, my everybody hates me guess I will just go eat sugar!

In a nutshell my coping mechanism for all things.

I knew how much I depended on Soda and Sugar, I just didn't realize how much of a habit they had become in my life. There are times of the day I actually find myself in a quandary as to what to do because normally I would be having my reward.

So here is my first question, every diet book, health book, diet expert all of them say the same thing. If you don't replace it you will just go back to it.

What per say do you replace it with?

Seriously, I have spent the last 8 weeks trying to figure out how to replace all of these bad habits and I have come up blank.

Empty, bare, desolate, without solution. (sorry I'm in a thesaurus kind of mood)

Because seriously amigos, life is hard, everyday as a mom your running. No matter how big the munchkins get you are there making sure it all gets done. The beds get made, the homework gets signed, the homework gets done, everyone gets to school on time. The list goes on and on.

So you take a moment or two for yourself. You enjoy a yummy diet coke (or two or three) or a some gooey goodness treat (or two or three). It doesn't hurt a single sole (except for maybe you) and it makes you feel all ready to take on the world (or at least 6th grade math).

So what can you possibly replace that with?

I'm curious? All of you skinny and fit and not addicted to sugar people. What kind of coping mechanism do you use? Because really all I want is to finish up all the Halloween candy my children have not finished. Amazing how long it has last without mom raiding it. DANG IT!

Hmmm, I honestly don't know. I do however know that Russell would vote for meat. Replace all of those bad things with massive amounts of meat. He taught Gordonzolla that "meat is better than dessert." No worries, G-Force was only brainwashed for a couple of years.

Oh, and I do know that meat, in the quantities my husband enjoys, is not a healthy alternative. I'll keep thinking.... In the meantime, I am off to cooking group. Tonight is cookie night... in honor of you, I'll go easy on the sweat stuff. =)

Hang in there! You can do it!!

I have no idea! If I did maybe I'd be one of the skinny ones :) Somebody answer this one, I'd love the suggestions too.

I am truly amazed; I don't think I could've gone this long without you know what. So, obviously, I have no other coping mechanisms or will power. Keep up the good work!

First, I have returned from cookie night without having any cookies. Apparently, I should think about you more often!

Second, tap dance. It is time to replace snacking with some loud, clanky, stompy dancing. (To any tap dancers I have just offended... I was a tap dancer and it was LOUD!) No need for lessons, just strap on some metal shoes when the snack-drive kicks in and get to smacking your feet!

I honestly think if you don't allow yourself to have a treat once in a while, what is the point of even eating? I mean, really. I think moderation is the key to everything. I really don't love chocolate, and I used to, really really used to, like eating two or three candy bars a day. I don't know why I don't crave it anymore, I just don't. I do love, love, love cheesecake and I do allow myself to have that once in a while, maybe once a month or so. Remember, even diabetics are supposed to have 45 carbs per meal and a 15-carb snack twice a day. You are doing great! If you really want something to replace sugar, there is always, well, "you know." :)

I dunno, um, replace it with fruit?

What I want to know is how to lose weight from your thighs, because I still can't fit into my pre-pregnancy pants. Too tight in the thighs, rawr.

o0o0o- Tap Dancing sounds fun.
